Design in Spain
An Industrial Design grants an exclusive right to the appearance of the whole or part of a product, which is derived from the design features, in particular the lines, contours, colours, shape, texture or materials of the product itself or its ornamentation.
The prosecution
Industrial designs may be two-dimensional or three-dimensional.
At Protectia Patentes y Marcas we are experts in the filing, surveillance and renewal of industrial designs in Spain. The protection offered covers the entire Spanish state, and will be for 5 years renewable for periods of 5 years up to a maximum of 25 years. The application for registration may include several designs, up to a maximum of 50, provided that they refer to products belonging to the same classification, and up to 7 views may be included for each variant.
